Menu Items From In-N-Out Burger Ranked From Worst To Best
9. 4x4
On paper, this burger sounds like it has potential. All of the components are there: an equal balance of meat to cheese (four patties, four slices of American cheese), and some flavor-equalizing lettuce, tomato, onion, and spread. But the problem with this burger is that it's just too tall. The 4x4 has a vertical height that is just impossible for most people to take a full bite. Most people choose to disassemble this monster and have it piece by piece, but what's the point of having a burger when you can't have a mouthful of bread, lettuce, and meat?
According to an In-N-Out Burger employee, 4x4s are ridiculously hard to wrap and anything larger would just look like a total mess. Therefore, the chain forbids its employees from making anything larger than 4x4. The funny thing is that, if you want anything even larger, the employee can give you cheese and patties on the side, but they are not allowed to actually assemble it.
