What Happens If You Accidentally Eat Moldy Food?
How should I deal with moldy foods?
If you're still too disgusted by the patch of mold on your food, it might not be a comprehensive solution to just cut it off before eating. All molds have roots that can lie deep in foods, so toxins might already be spread all over the inside when you see the fuzz on the surface. Nevertheless, mold can fail to penetrate certain foods with thicker or harder layers, so it really depends on specific cases.
As a quick reference, these foods are generally edible once you cut off the mold:
Hard cheeses
Hard salami
Firm fruits
Vegetables
These foods should be thrown away if you notice any moldy spot on the surface:
Soft fruits
Baked goods
Nuts
Milk and yogurt
Jams
Meat
Bread
