5 Common Food Myths Debunked: Never Be Fooled Again
4. Organic Foods Are More Nutritious Than Their Conventional Alternatives
The term "organic" seems attractive among all supermarket goods, since it is regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Legally speaking, organic foods refers to those grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, antibiotics, or growth hormones (U.S. Department of Agriculture, 2016). Thus they are often considered less harmful to the environment and people.
Many producers now like to play the healthier-than-others card on their organic products, misleading consumers that organic foods contain more nutrition than their traditional counterparts. But the truth is not all up-lifting. There's no difference between the nutrition of organic foods and that of the traditional ones. So don't get scammed!
