The iconic burger and shake chain that has been open since 1934 closed nearly 70 locations over the first half of 2020. In May of that year, 306 Steak 'n Shake locations were still in operation, however, the chain was actively looking to sell many corporate-owned sites to those who wanted to franchise them.
