What many people don't know is that touching spicy foods can also potentially have health risks. Spicy foods stimulate the receptors in the skin that normally respond to heat. Those receptors are technically known as polymodal nociceptors which also respond to certain chemical influences. The central nervous system can be fooled when these receptors are stimulated by chili peppers, which triggers an adverse neural response that causes blisters and rashes.
